WELCOME
and those who abide in love
abide in God,
and God abides in them.”
1 John 4.16
Moruya Anglican Parish is situated in the beautiful Eurobodalla Shire on the south coast of NSW. We are a parish with a progressive orientation and a warm and inclusive heart.
We have a concern for social and ecological justice arising from a Christ-centered love of neighbour. We aim to live out the words of Micah to ‘love kindness, do justice and walk humbly with God’.
Our Sunday services of Holy Communion are traditional in nature yet constitute just a part of our activities.
We are so much more than just a Sunday church!
Our parish office is open Monday – Thursday, 10.00am to 12.00pm
We are located at
15B Page Street, Moruya 2537

We extend a warm welcome…
To those who are single, married, divorced, remarried, widowed, gay, confused, filthy rich, comfortable or down to their last cent. We extend a special welcome to crying newborns, those feeling their age, and everyone in between. You’re welcome here if you are a local, here for awhile, or just visiting.
We welcome you if you can sing like Pavarotti or can’t carry a note in the shower. You are welcome here if you are just looking, just woke up or just got out of prison. We don’t mind if you’re more Catholic than the Pope, more Anglican than the Archbishop of Canterbury or haven’t been to church and don’t know what to do.
Welcome if you are Islamic, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu or belong to any of our other fellow Christian religions.
We extend a special welcome.
We welcome farmers, starving artists, tree huggers, latte sippers, vegetarians, junk food eaters. We welcome those in recovery and those who are still addicted. We welcome you if you were having a hard time or you’re down in the dumps, or if you don’t like organised religion. You’re in good company here!
We welcome those who are inked, pierced or both. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, had religion shoved down their throat as a kid or got on the wrong bus and thought they were going to the football. We welcome tourists, seekers, doubters, those with more questions than answers.
And you…
We welcome you, whoever you are, however you are, just as you are, with no hoops to jump through. #
# The welcome words above appeared in the parish bulletin of the Carmelite church, Middle Park. It was adapted for use at the Benedictine Abbey at Jamberoo, NSW, where we found it and have adapted further. Thank you to those communities and their welcome.

The Commons
St John’s is so much more than just a Sunday church.
The Commons is the physical site of St John’s, where many community activities find a home. It includes the Red Door hall, the community vegetable gardens, the church and office, and the grounds including the labyrinth and the Moruya Micro-forest (currently under construction).
St John’s Commons is a place of intentional collaborative community engagement for the common good. The Commons is about encouraging integrative living, wholeness, justice, wisdom, truth telling and creativity. In a fragmented world we recognise the need for coherence and cooperation between people from different walks of life.
In a society marked by individualism and a competitive and extractive capitalism that seeks material growth without limits, we seek to serve the common good.
The Red Door Hall
Our famous Red Door church hall is a busy venue for church and community activities.
To book the hall, please download our booking form.
Red Door Café
We provide a free Community Lunch at 12pm every Tuesday in the hall.
Everyone is welcome to enjoy a fresh cooked meal at no cost or by donation.
St John’s Labyrinth
Experience the quiet contemplation of moving through our labyrinth.
The labyrinth in front of St John’s is open to all.
SAGE Community Veggie Garden
Established in 2018 with the help of SAGE and the IMB Community Grant program, St John’s provides garden beds for the community to grow their own food.
